Macho Men

More than one million AskMen.com readers voted for their favorite “man’s man” and who did they pick as the most manly…? David Beckham. Hmmm. I know a helium-voiced clothes horse is my definition of macho. Becks is many wonderful things, but a manly man…? Arnold Schwarzenegger might have something to say about that.

The Top 10:

1. David Beckham
2. Matt Damon
3. Timbaland
4. Roger Federer
5. Justin Timberlake
6. Daniel Craig
7. Steve Jobs
8. George Clooney
9. Lewis Hamilton
10. Christian Bale

What, no Zac Efron or Clay Aiken? Well, considering the top 100 also includes …

Senator Craig Defends Love of Wife, Women & Rainbow Stickers

Matt Lauer spoke with embattled Idaho Senator Larry Craig last night in an interview that seemed to come straight from the Larry King School of Lobbing Softballs.

Matt prefaced questions with an apologetic, “You’re going to have to forgive me for this…” and, at one point, Matt said he had read records that included “a guy who claims you ‘cruised’ him — whatever that is.”

Oh, c’mon, Macho Matt. Even my grandmother knows what “cruising” means. That’s right — she’s watched Will & Grace!

Regardless of Matt’s less-than-stellar interviewing skills, …

Elle Celebrates “The Women in Hollywood”

Jennifer Connelly, Lauren Bacall, Kate Bosworth, Amy Adams, Julie Taymor, Diane Lane and Scarlett Johansson

Elle magazine held a publicity stunt, er… I mean, celebrated the women in Hollywood… with its aptly titled “Women in Hollywood” event in Beverly Hills yesterday.

Honorees included:

–Jennifer Connelly for graduating “from child actor to leading lady, without rehab or going commando.” (Not that there’s anything WRONG with going commando, mind you, so long as you keep that detail to yourself. That means you, too, Mom.)

–Diane Lane for being “an alluring forty-something whose stunning turn as an adulteress soccer mom reaffirms why reinvention is the best revenge.” (Really? I prefer to exact my revenge with prank calls and toilet-papered lawns. But to each her own…)

–Amy Adams for being the “most promising breakout.” (Translation: TBD.)

–Julie Taymor for becoming “the wildly nimble filmmaker the director of our generation.” (Wildly nimble, huh? Congrats to her hubby.)

–Lauren Bacall for crafting “the kind of characters women want to emulate and actresses only dream about playing.” (Translation: We’re a little scared of this woman.)

And, of course…

–Kate Bosworth because “…in a town that worships lanky young blonds, [she] could have had it easy. Instead, she dodged the expected and chose to rely on her intensity and range, proving this bombshell is built to last.” (You said it, Elle. Nothing says “range” like putting on a wet suit in Blue Crush or tackling hard-hitting roles like Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. Built to last, indeed!)

Ever wonder who the Maxim editors don’t want to sleep with*? No? Well, they think you do. Which is why they’ve published a list of “The Unsexiest Women Alive”:

5. BRITNEY SPEARS

Jennifer Aniston is Tabloid Gold

jenniferaniston-tabloids.jpg

In news that’s about as scientific as you’re ever going to read on Holy Candy, Forbes has released its first-ever analysis of the top-selling celebrity faces. At the top of that list…? Yup, Jennifer Aniston.

You remember that Seinfeld episode where Newman keeps imagining Kramer as a tasty cooked turkey? That must be how tabloid editors imagine Jen — only as a big pile of tasty cash, rather than a Butterball.

The analysis covered the top six celebrity weeklies, based on newsstand sales, number of covers graced and consumer appeal gleaned from …
