The Prestige Performs Magic at Box Office

The Prestige was number one at the box office this weekend, with Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and Clint Eastwood’s Flags of Our Fathers following behind.

The Prestige is a period piece about competing magicians. I suppose the modern day version would feature David Blaine vs. David Copperfield — although Copperfield’s only truly impressive magic trick over the years was making Claudia Schiffer inexplicably appear on his arm.

Elton John Talks Smack about Celine

And I loved every minute of it!

elton_john.jpg

Just returned from my long weekend in Vegas, where I saw the smack-talkin’, hair weave-lovin’ Elton John in concert. I not only went for the fabulous music, but also for a few fun Elton quotes — and he didn’t disappoint on either front.

Elton on Celine Dion (for whom he was “filling in” at Caesars Palace):

“Celine’s away tonight filming Jackass 3. Or maybe it’s the Krispy Kreme commercial. Whichever it is… I sure like filling her slot.”

“…As someone who’s struggled with my weight since I was born… …

Diddy’s New Role: Undeserving Movie Star

Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been cast in the lead role in a new film version of A Raisin in the Sun, despite his poor reviews in the Broadway production. The hip-hop mogul will reprise the role played by screen legend Sidney Poitier in a new adaptation of the 1961 film, which was later made into a hit stage show, according to British newspaper Daily Telegraph.

Isn’t Ashlee Simpson already in a musical?

jeffrey_sebelia.jpg

Jeffrey Sebelia was the guy Project Runway viewers loved to hate — and they’ll be seeing much more of the Runway Bad Boy now that he’s been crowned the winner of the show.

During his time on Runway, Jeffrey was often the poster designer for naughty behavior. He was under investigation by show executives for possibly outsourcing the construction of his designs for Fashion Week. He cried when cleared of any wrongdoing. And in one episode, the lovely man made a contestant’s mom cry while designing a dress for her.

A diva and pain in the …

“Reel Moments” Short Film Series

The stars came out last night to support Glamour’s “Reel Moments” series of short films — two of which were directed by Jennifer Aniston and Bryce Dallas Howard — based on readers’ true stories about the empowerment of women.

Jen looked adorable; although if my mom had been there, she totally would have fixed Jen’s sloppy tuck job:

Wait! Looks like my mom was there — and took Sean Penn and Robin Wright-Penn’s picture! That sneaky devil. I’d recognize Mom’s signature “chopped head” approach anywhere:
