Britney Spears — who, as you may have heard, has a couple of issues — has been hospitalized once again. She is at UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation, after being transported by ambulance from her Studio City home around 1 a.m.
This time, Brit went willingly, and she’s “more comfortable” receiving medical care – even making a joke about her second trip.
“She’ll be in there for at least 72 hours getting evaluated. She might even stay longer,” says a People source. “She’s more comfortable this time, she came into the waiting area, had a cigarette, made a joke about being there again. But who knows what will happen. All we can hope for is that she gets better.”
Apparently, this has been in the works for some time, with Britney even seeing a psychiatrist every day up until the intervention.
“The motorcade and everything was planned, it was already in the works to have them block off the road and airspace. It worked out perfectly,” said London the source.
Sam Lufti and Jamie Spears have since left the hospital; however, Lynne Spears and Adnan Ghalib are still with Britney, who hasn’t slept since Saturday. Yikes! Might I suggest popping in The English Patient DVD? Puts me to sleep every time.

I think that letting a patient who is on the edge smoke is a good thing. Over here, there are areas where hospital staff and patients can smoke–it’s an addiction, and you have to provide for it. We’ve got far worse air pollutants to worry about, such as low environmental standards in factories, especially in the US and in “developing” countries–but the media focuses on smoking, to distract from these bigger poisons.

The difference though is that smoking is something we do to ourselves. I’m an ex-smoker, and thoroughly understand the difficulty with quitting. It’s not as simple as people think. But it is still a choice, whereas air pollutants are harder for us to personally control.
It does suck, though, when you’re a non-smoker and walk out of the gym after a nice long work-out and you walk directly into someone’s cloud of smoke. That’s pretty harsh and pretty unfair. As long as smokers are considerate of others around them, I have no problem with what they choose to do.

to go down to the lowest basement
level, prop open a maintenance door
(so you can get back in)
and smoke in an area with dumpsters
and other weird architecture.

Yeah, I think we need to get past the “I’m a smoker” / “I’m not a smoker” division and unite together to voice our concerns about factory air-borne pollutants.
