Barbara Walters — whose career has seemingly devolved from interviewing world leaders to recounting phone conversations with celebutards — announced on The View this morning that she received a call from Britney Spears’s manager and “very good friend” Sam Lutfi, and that he claims Britney is seeking help for what Barbara called “mental issues which are treatable.”
“She has been to a psychiatrist,” Barbara related. “She, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment.”
Barbara also reported that Britney’s having trouble sleeping and suffering from “mood swings,” but that she was back in touch with her mother, Lynne.
When the other ladies challenged the authenticity of Sam’s report, Barbara responded that, “I don’t know if anybody is telling the truth or not telling the truth.” But she noted, “He has been with her constantly. He seems to be enormously supportive.”
And then Sam painted Britney’s face like a clown and claimed to be the father of her children…
Oh, wait. That was another “very good friend” of a troubled starlet. My mistake.
