Don’t worry, Lourdes. I’ve been there:

You’re only 11. You have plenty of time to discover tweezers. Hell, I wasn’t introduced to them till I was 21. At least you’re blessed with gorgeous hair and a killer wardrobe, rather than an asymmetric mushroom cut and imitation Benetton shirts.

Oh my goodness, that is horrific. WTF? Someone should call DSS on Madonna b/c that child should not have a unibrow and mustache–regardless of whom her mother is!

  2. Wickedgood

Oh god - I had the eyebrows from hell too (or as I fondly call them ‘caterpillars eating my face!’) I don’t think I discovered tweezers until I was 22 /shame

Ok, maybe not as bad as Lourdes’, but then again she is a gorgeous kid and not even out-of-control eyebrows can hide that fact. Anyway, even at my age I’d rather do anything than pluck every other day… what 11-year-old has the patience to mess with crap like tweezing or waxing? Bah.

  3. Julie

I’m sure her mom could afford to have her waxed. Not saying that 11 year olds should have to go that far yet, but this is an extreme case.

  4. Jane

She is a such a pretty girl. Her father
is Cuban and her mother has Italian ancestery.
Is she hairy? Not really. Should she be
tweezing/waxing at the age of eleven?
    Hell no!
I think she looks confortable with her
self (as she should) and I say that is
great Madonna is raising a daughter with
    self-confidence. Lola is totally rocking
that look that Freida Kahlo was known for,
and she too was a beautiful woman, uni-brow
    and all.

Meanwhile, little Rocco is cute, but where
the hell is David? Why wasn’t he with the
    family?

  5. Michelle

I really think someone photoshopped this. No way man.

  6. Hannah

I don’t condone waxing young girls but this is an extreme case!!!

  7. grimreaper

she looks just like her mom.

  8. Are we sure Eugene Levy isn’t the father?

I agree with Jane. Lourdes is a gorgeous little girl, and that’s what she is ~ a little girl. The eyebrows are something that she’ll (ahem) definitely want to take care of in future years, but there’s no need to shove her into the shallow world of glamour/beauty maintenance before she’s even a teenager. The poor kid (figuratively speaking) needs to be allowed to be a kid, without the media attacking her for her natural looks.

And in answer to the “Where’s David” suspicion… who knows where he is? Doctors appointment, play date, bonding time with Grandma, could be anything.

david’s too young to be going to movies. lola is a beautiful little girl.

  11. Marie

No, they shouldn’t wax her eyebrows at her age. Let her be a kid! She should enjoy those few precious years where she isn’t harassed by insecurity! She’s a beautiful little girl!

  12. Happy Go Lucky

She’s adorable. Nothing some wax and braces can’t fix in a few yrs. She’s gonna be a knock out. I hear she’s well spoken and mature for her age too.

  13. jewed

Maybe Madonna is jealous of the potential competition.

  14. librarian kathleen

It’s difficult to endorse waxing or tweezing
or any sort of body modification, however
minor, for a kid who has not yet hit
    adolescence.

Puberty is tough for anyone, even celebukids.
    Maybe even tougher for celebukids.

Unfortunately for her, this kid is Madonna’s kid. She will be photographed, and she will
be ridiculed for all sorts of things.

One thing’s for sure: she certainly has got
    her mother’s eyebrows and teeth.

Jane: I hope you’ve got it pegged.

  15. Erika

That is a terrifying picture. I didn’t start waxing until I was out of my teens but I am blonde and not hairy. I don’t think kids need to wax to get shape like we do as adults but if they are out of control like this, SOMETHING should be done. If she were a “regular” kid and not Madonna’s daughter, she’d be teased to tears in school.

  16. Holy Terror

I wonder if the kids are too sheltered? Sad to say, such confidence with regular kids would not be so much in evidence, what with other kids’ teasing and constant media influence. I’m glad for her, but worried that she will be ill-prepared for say High School and College. You know some Head Cheerleader type is going to be posting this pic on her locker the first day of school–even in boarding school.

  17. Wax her.

    Only to avoid ridicule.

    Then move on.

  18. Me

    I agree with Jane.
    She’s too young to be
    thrown into the world
    of perfectionism.

  19. MsTriste

IMO it looks like they’ve been brushed to look like that. Almost like her mom meant for them to look like that. I have thick eyebrows and I could brush them outwards like that. But I don’t, for obvious reasons. BTW this picture has more comments than most others on this site. Hmm…

  20. black potato

she is a splitting image of her mom!!!

  21. Jo Jo

Jane–well said, again! She’s a little girl, not even a teen yet.

  22. she is really gorgeous. I just imagine her freaking out when she’s older, like, “MOM how could you let me look like that?!”
