Yes, Holy Rollers — it has been ONE FULL YEAR since the premiere of Holy Candy! Wow, how time flies when you’re poking fun at celebrities, huh?
I generally try to keep things light on this site, but in all seriousness, I’ve been having an absolute blast working on Holy Candy these past twelve months. I initially founded the site because I was a disillusioned television writer who found myself reading blogs more than writing that Grey’s Anatomy spec promised to my agent and thought, well, why don’t I write a blog? So off I went, without a clue (which was pretty apparent in some of my original posts) and with no idea that it would turn into the delightful adventure that it has — largely because of you, dearest Holy Rollers (*SNIFFLE* *SNIFFLE*) who make me laugh with your comments and make the many hours of trolling the Internet for the latest pictures of Britney grabbing a taco worthwhile with your kind e-mails.
Oh, sure, I get some less-than-flattering comments, such as “stfu and stop making people dumber with your drivel” and “Just what the world needs, another blog.” But what would the blogosphere be without such heartwarming commentary?
If you’ll humor me, I’d just like to highlight a few of my favorite posts thus far:
The premiere of my mom’s favorite column, Who Wore It Best?
My personal fave, the “He Said, She Said” advice column
“Top 10 Signs You’re a Wigger”
Short Story: Jesse Metcalfe edition
Partnering with Gallery of the Absurd: Kooky Hollywood Moms
I’m sure there are key ones I’m missing, but honestly, I can’t bear to pore over all of my stories (as genius as they may be) — so if you can think of others, please say so!
AND… just a couple birthday gifts that I — I mean, Holy Candy — am hoping to receive:
From George Clooney: His fidelity (I’ve been more than patient)
From Paris Hilton: A one-way ticket to Neptune (for her)
From Adriana Lima: An opportunity to switch bodies (thanks, appreciate it!)
From Britney Spears: A grip (for her)
The beauty of blogs is the community and interactivity, so if you have any suggestions, likes, dislikes, you-name-it, please let me know in the comments section or send me an e-mail at candy@holycandy.com. Thank you, everyone, for making this past year more fun than any job should be — and here’s to an even bigger and better year in ‘08!
Hugs, kisses and many, many celebratory margaritas,
Candy

Happy Birthday! Keep up the good work…the interwebs need SMART gossip and snark not pathetic doodles on stolen photos with Microsoft Paint. Anyone who makes my chai latte nearly spurt from my nose while I should be going over reports at work is just fine by me.
