A young teenager is causing quite a stir in the media, as barely adolescent Maddison Gabriel (who just turned 13 on Sunday) was picked as the official ambassador of Fashion Week in Australia and has also worn a number of revealing outfits for the event.
Good lord. I wasn’t even allowed to pierce my ears until I was 16.
Any-hoo. Everyone from Australia’s prime minister to the “world’s so-called first supermodel” Janice Dickinson is giving their two cents’ on the issue. The prime minister said, “There should be age limits, I mean there has to be, we do have to preserve some notion of innocence in our society,” while Janice told Matt Lauer on TODAY that, “There’s lots of drugs, there’s lots of alcohol, there’s lots of photographers preying on these girls. Thirteen is way too young.”
The teenager has responded to the uproar, saying that “It doesn’t matter about the age. It matters that you can do the job. I can fit into women’s clothes. I can model women’s clothes, so I should be able to do it.”
In related news, James Woods has asked for the girl’s phone number and offered to help “babysit” her at the event.

She’s right, though. Why shouldn’t she get the job that she’s qualified for? It’s a business, not a moral forum. It’s a huge honor to get that.
Gemma Ward wasn’t that much older when they started wringing her out.
Eighteen year-olds are too old. As a model, your best years are between thirteen and seventeen. If you’re good, you’ll go on a little longer but not much. There’s always forty thirteen year-old girls with naturally small bodies ready to replace the beat-up coked-up anorexic twenty year-olds.
Badda bing.

I think they just wanted the controversy surrounding hiring the 13 year old for publicity. Look at her face. That’s the best 13 year old they could come up with?? She’s not much of a looker above the neck.

Way too much makeup for any age. Yuck. Too young and not pretty anyway - what in the world? Pushy stage mother, maybe.

This chick is no Brooke Shields. She’s average looking (beautiful hair, though) and she looks like Joan Collins with all that make-up.

She’s pretty, but jailbait. I can’t believe she is 13. That picture looks like she’s 17 or 18, maybe older.
