Celebrating Pop Culture’s Best BFFs

I guess that would make them BBFFs?

New York magazine staffers have taken it upon themselves to determine the “The Buddy List: The Fifteen Most Dynamic Duos in Pop Culture History.”

The rules for this list were even more strict than the ones my parents laid out on prom night (which I TOTALLY followed, except for… all of them): buddies must be on equal footing (buh-bye, Batman and Robin and Wham!); they must be platonic; and they cannot be part of a larger ensemble.

Which apparently left them with these guys:

15. Bialystock and Bloom
14. Laverne and Shirley
13. Mike Nichols and Elaine May
12. Joe Kavalier and Sam Clay
11. Calvin and Hobbes
10. Riggs and Murtaugh
9. Skip Donahue and Harry Monroe
8. Andre 3000 and Big Boi
7. Bert and Ernie
6. Vladimir and Estragon
5. Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin
4. Rick Todd and Eugene Fullstack
3. Thelma and Louise
2. Frodo and Sam
1. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Wow. With the exceptions of #1, 3, 7 and 14, that’s the worst list I’ve seen since the InTouch “Most Wanted Star Hairstyles” debacle of 2006. On the bright side, it gives me a chance to use this nifty polling software!
