Paris Hilton juxtaposed with report of US anti-missile plans in Eastern Europe. The relentless media hysteria surrounding the Paris Hilton saga really bothered me today. It’s my opinion that her pathetic story belongs on gossip sites and perhaps as a two-minute entertainment segment on the national news, but not as an all day breaking news story on major media outlets. I understand there are issues to be discussed surrounding Paris Hilton’s sickening preferential treatment, but do we need to watch a looping tape of the spoiled brat sobbing in the back of a sheriff’s car? Do we need to be shown helicopter footage of Hilton’s Hollywood Hills home (Oh look, it’s her roof!) throughout the day? Wouldn’t it be nice if CNN left their growing emphasis on entertainment reporting to the pros over at TMZ and instead focus their efforts on reporting and debating newsworthy items that actually impact our daily lives? These paintings are less about Paris Hilton and more about the frustration I had with the news media today. Medium: news stories printed from Yahoo News and the Washington Post, collage, acrylic, colored pencil, glitter and photoshop.

The ad for the Hilton hotels to the left of the middle picture is a nice touch.

  2. Agreed!

I love you 14. You are alented as fuck, and you are so smart that I have this crush on you. This portrayal of paris and your short comment is brilliant.

  4. Pip

Here, here, 14. We totally agree.

Even us here in wee New Zealand had mainstream news reporting breaking news on Paris. So completely ridiculous.

  5. Sophie

“… and perhaps as a two-minute entertainment segment on the national news, but not as an all day breaking news story on major media outlets.”

Couldn’t agree with you more. CNN is becoming a whore. But you know, at least you could laugh at her. When you watch the news about Iraq and all those dead people there you can only cry. Anyway yeah she was on tv too much yesterday. It was “Paris released from jail” the whole day. I didn’t even turn on the TV today, but I’ve read she was sent back so I can only imagine that she’s on every channel.

  6. N.B.

Say it and say it loud, 14!!!!!

The media in this country are no longer a fourth estate, but a forum for foolishness.

    Bless you, girl.

  7. I’m sorry, I don’t know anything about CNN–don’t watch t.v. and usually refer to the BBC or the Globe and Mail etc for news–but your presentation of fast food news over real issues is fantastic.

    Fabulous! Great work as usual!

Yes, she is a skeazy trainwreck, isn’t she? And although the media is completely oversaturated with her image, this is just poetic justice; This woman wanted attention SO badly and now she’s gotten it. Albeit, OJ-style, but attention nonetheless. For the first time the whole world had their eyes glued to her and her “Me, me, me!” attitude. The ironic part is: it’s the wrong kind of attention. It’s the world looking at her at the wrong time.

This is karma, plain and simple. She should have been careful what she wished for.

And I LOVE the oversized monster heels you did!

  9. Christine

    hallelujah.

  10. OMG! You have now become a hero to me. I feel EXACTLY as you do!

    *I’m not worthy!*

  11. RD

I’ve never laughed so hard in my life!

  12. slc

This is not only wonderful, but much needed: it’s relieving to see someone addressing the real issue at hand, and so well done. THANK YOU.

  14. Paris might be a bore, but she inspired some of your funniest artwork. I’ll never forget the three disgraces. Thanks for all the fun!

You might want to take a look at the other Hilton sisters, which happen to be elegant, artsy and much deserving of attention: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6W5aFdr4zQ

  15. Charlene

Ann Coulter I don’t mind much talking about Paris, since the two of them are so much alike. Both attention whoring bitches who are trying very hard to put the women’s movement back by decades. (They’re just going about it in different ways.)

Paris Hilton justifies a lot of bitter, unintelligent misogynists’ beliefs about women (that we’re stupid, that we actually get treated better than men and not worse, that looks are the only important thing about us, etc.). She needs to go away.

  16. jerkygirl

The same people who own/make money off of Paris are the same people who own/make money off of the news outlets, so this is just killing two birds with one stone for them. The MSM are a monstrous joke, so the monstrous joke that is Paris Hilton and this whole rape and pillage of the “justice” system go perfectly together, like cockroaches and general filth. It’s not surprising, but it is sickening. I’m tired of it, and her, too. Please, please let this woman’s 15 be up NOW.
14, as always, sharp and on the mark–these last 2 seem angrier than your usual stuff but no less appealing by any stretch. I like this “ticked off” side of you as much as I like all the fun stuff and the gorgeous botanicals. I’ll bet you have a lot more facets to your personality we haven’t seen yet, as well. Please keep it up 14!!! I think your pictures represent what a LOT of us are feeling, in a way that probably most of us can’t articulate (meaning, in artwork–me, I can draw great smiley faces but that’s about it). I think that’s why your art is so relatable and why you have such a rabid fan base. Okay suck-up is over now lol. :)

  17. I couldn’t agree more. Even here in Holland, where this type of thing wouldn’t make too many people bat an eye lid, it somehow snuck into the news. I can’t imagine how horrid it must be on American television.

  18. Amazing!

  19. ILSA

OMG, the image of those giant shoes just made me snort my drink out my nose. Humour aside, what you are saying is disgracefully true. There are many more important issues in the world for CNN to worry about than this wonky, attention-craving harlot.

  20. deanna1104

i find this situation some what puzzling. since when, if ever, has ms. hilton’s previous mental illness precluded her from partying, slutting around, and aggravating the folks around her? i find this simply fascinating. does paris, in all of her wisdon, really expect us to believe if she stops taking her antipsychotics she may appear to be “teetering”, “on the brink”, “despondent”, or “talking incoherently”? wtf? what the hell does this beastly lady take us for? shit it’s not like any of us are educated or walk around with any common sense. i am insulted;at least i think i am. or i mean at least i think i’m smart enough to know i’m being insulted. i think.
and i’d like to give a shout-out to my 24hr cable news networks that know when i need to be distracted from ugly things going on all around me that may cause me to feel, well sad… like a war, or the economy, or like FOR SALE signs all around my gated-in affluent neighborhood. at least i got my flat screen hd tv. thank goodness paris came along after anna to keep my simple my distracted.

  21. I wonder if the media will finally talk about the real issues now that Paris is back in the slammer.
    Great post!

  22. Girl, you make me proud to be a Sagittarius. This is great stuff.

  23. Paris Wilton

I’m afraid that even if she kicks da bucket in there she won’t go away (remember Anna Nicole) so might as well just ignore her and think of something else. How about that Justin Henin!

  24. excellent work! every time i come back to read your blog i’m more impressed… keep it up!

  25. Demon Kitty

Bad news everyone, CNN.com is starting to link to TMZ. The latest on Crabis was linked from TMZ. CNN is really gone down now, and that is bad considering my low standards for news.

  26. Morrigan

I’m frustrated at the constant barrage of news regarding that waste of skin. I’m also frustrated with myself for allowing myself to waste my time yesterday, watching the news about the events. Thank you for showing what so many of us were thinking.

  27. Adam Smith

    FREE ALL CLAUSTROPHOBICS NOW!

    That’s the real issue.

The U.S has the largest prison population in the world,(2.1 million at last count).
A recent survey revealed that as many as 78% of American prisoners suffer from claustrophobia, and were begging for release now. This Minute. We should all thank Paris, for highlighting the plight of people with a pathological fear of small spaces and their mass confinement in such a barbaric way.Like a new Mandela, she is a beacon for the oppressed and suffering in the world. Her light will not be exstinguished by those who seek to stop her wandering though the hills with her people;the haves and the have mores.

There is no way that this defence was a last desperate attempt to escape being near people of a lower social class, without a film crew present.
Any suggestion that this is the case is motivated by jealousy,at her shining radiance, along with envy,at her ability to rise up from extraordinary wealth into sheer decadence. You should all be ashamed of yourselves, she is royalty you know.

  28. Pikachelsea

Well, I have to admit I’m a little baffled, considering that this here website is pretty much all Paris, all the time… I came in expecting to see you (14) reveling in the new bounty of Paris-related idiocy to satirize as you are so talented at doing.

I can understand the annoyance at the over-saturation of Paris all over the news, like this is the biggest thing since World War II. However, my schadenfreude wins out in the end, as I just can’t help but be delighted at a public shaming of this scale. She’s had it coming for SO LONG and I’m savoring every second.

  29. I’m glad to see other people whom think she’s a serious waste of our time and news broadcasts. I see enough of her face in the trash mags that are sold at my part time job ( ugh, trash mags… ). I don’t understand why people would actually freaking CARE what the heck she does on a daily basis, or really what any star does on a daily basis. Is the way one star picks their nose really anymore fascinating than the next persons?

High five, my friend. Great job.

Ok, Zoe & I are off to spend some time with Jesus now. Have a nice day, talk to ya soon. :)
    P.S. — Darth Vader’s hot!

  31. Demon Kitty

The Paris phenomena has been going on in western civilization for centuries now. I don’t feel like going into it.

  32. Claustrophobia my big white ass. Her problem (aside from probable drug withdrawal) is that she cannot ever be alone. For someone who cannot ever be alone, 23 hours a day of solitude (no cell mate) must be sheer hell. Her life only exists as a reflection off of other people’s responses to her. I’ve known people like this; even 20 minutes of “nothing to do and no one to do it with” makes them absolutely batshit.

  33. Sajib

    THANK. YOU!

  34. Joe

wow. This one really got to me. Outstanding work.

  35. For a bit of Paris humor, I wrote a fun post on my blog about Paris Hilton…stop by and check it out:

  36. the jj

Am thrilled I’m not the only one who is feeling these seemingly-irrational pangs of hatred! Enough already, media whores! Enough already, Paris whore!

    Some thoughts:
    1. Her dramatic “despondency” makes me sick–as does the “concern” that she may hurt herself… PLEASE! This woman loves herself WAY too much to truly hurt herself.
    2. She’s fallen so low, and now is falling even lower with her jailhouse behavior. Think about the opportunity she’d have had to redeem herself if she had held her head high, accepted the sentence, and basically–adopted a grin and bear it attitude. She has no grace; no humility; no class.

I think that’s why she inspires such hatred–her blubbering face in the back of the squad car truly made me want to smack her. You stupid spoiled brat–you did wrong, you got caught–you are spending roughly 3 weeks inside your own damn cell… after which you’ll be back to a life of luxury 99.99% of the world can’t even image… and you’ve done NOTHING to deserve that luxury.

Thanks, 14, for providing a forum for your own and others’ expression–I’m glad you’re able to channel your thoughts into your artwork and then share it with us.

    You should get an award.
