The chairman of HBO, Chris Albrecht, was arrested in Las Vegas on Sunday on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend, the Los Angeles Times has reported.

Police officers saw Albrecht engaged in a “physical confrontation” in the valet parking area outside the MGM Grand hotel and subsequently arrested him on suspicion of a misdemeanor battery-domestic assault.

Albrecht circulated an internal memo to HBO employees today that suggested personal problems with alcohol played a part in the incident and announced that he was taking leave in order to enter treatment with AA (aka “Assholes Anonymous”).

The HBO head is expected to attend therapy sessions, as well as explain to Sopranos fans why last season’s finale sucked giant donkey balls.
