Paris Hilton, who, as we all know by now, was sentenced to 45 days in jail for violating her probation, has split with her longtime press representative Elliot Mintz after claiming that he miscommunicated the terms of her probation to her.

When asked what he would do with his newfound freedom, Mintz replied “No longer be ashamed to tell people what I do for a living.”

Left to handle the press on her own, Paris told photographers waiting outside her Los Angeles home that “I told the truth [in court]. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted. I don’t deserve this.”

“Cruel”? No, “cruel” is being forced to watch this on continuous loop:

*Shudder*

Barbra Streisand’s UK fans snapped up tickets for the London leg of her forthcoming European tour within minutes, it has been reported.

The singer’s representatives said that demand had been “phenomenal” and that they’re delighted fans have been willing to dip into their Poligrip and Early Bird Special budgets to see the Hello Dolly star. (Although without the Poligrip, it’s hard to enjoy the meal specials, anyway.)

Kim Basinger is celebrating after reportedly winning the latest fight in her custody battle with ex-husband Alec Baldwin. The actress was in court in Los Angeles Friday for a hearing into the couple’s custody spat over daughter Ireland, brought about by the leak of Alec’s angry voice-mail to his daughter.

Baldwin’s custody rights were suspended as a result of his taped comments, but they were expected to be reinstated in the court hearing (which Alec did not attend). However, Kim’s attorney revealed the judge ruled in her favor, telling reporters, “We are very, very pleased that the judge took an entire day to deal with the very, very important issue… We are very, very pleased with the judge’s thoughtful decision and fully support what she did here today.”

Which will undoubtedly inspire more very, very kind words from Alec.

Redefining the definition of a blockbuster, Spider-Man 3 ensnared $148 million at the box office this weekend — shattering the previous record for biggest opening weekend at the North American B.O. The exuberance of studio brass was evident, as they trumpeted the likelihood of not just another sequel, but multiple sequels.

“There’ll be a fourth and a fifth and sixth and a seventh,” Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chair Amy Pascal said. “As many stories as Peter Parker has to tell, we’ll do sequels.”

And when they run out of stories, they’ll just make up some crap: Spider-Man 14: Spider-Man Goes to D.C. in Red, Webbed and Blue; Spider-Man 26: Spidey Versus Rocky Balboa in the Geriatric Wars.

Why didn’t Alec attend the court hearing? That couldn’t have looked good.

Alec was probably afraid that he would lay the smackdown on Kim when he saw her.
