Marcheline Bertrand, actress and mother of Angelina Jolie, has died of cancer, Angelina confirmed today.
Bertrand died Saturday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a 7 1/2-year battle with cancer, Angelina said in a statement. Like so many actresses, no age was provided. Angelina, Brad Pitt and Ang’s older brother, James Haven, were at the hospital when she passed away.
Bertrand, who had small roles in movies Lookin’ to Get Out in 1982 and The Man Who Loved Women in 1983, raised Angie and James after divorcing their father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, when Angie was a toddler.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
They also requested a day of silence during which the Brangelina- Aniston triangle would not be mentioned. (Okay, so I made that up, but a momentary cease fire would be a welcome change of pace.)

I agree on the triange - but you need to call Bonnie the bitch Fuller quick before she posts an EXCLUSIVE on Star somehow bringing Jennifer Aniston into this grief story. Janice Min may have more class than Bonnie, but I doubt it.

I hope nobody cracks any Brd-Angie-Jen jokes about this one. Its sad to have to lose a mom, even if you’re as weird as Angelina Jolie. Hopefully, now that they’ve got to give her some space to grieve, everyone will drop this whole Brad-Angie-Jen story now. It has gotten very old and annoying.

Anonymous, I hope you’re right, but I doubt it. I can guarantee TMZ, Perez Hilton, Us, Star, Socialite’s Life, punk Jared, and on and on and on and on will even pull Jennifer Aniston into this. I can guarantee you that reporters are already contacting Huvane for a statement from her as they did when Shiloh was born.
My mother was 90 when she died and she died a gentle death in her sleep, but it still devastated me. I’m not an Angelina fan, but I pray for her in this terrible loss. Hopefully all people who are good and gentle folks will be praying for Angelina.

That’s a shame. From what I’ve read Angelina was really close to her mom. I wonder if this will bring her closer to her dad at all?

It would be nice if Angie made up with her Dad before he goes.

I also believe that this was why she was so mellow at the Golden globes. She knew that her mother was dying slowly those days.
