Jessica Simpson reportedly was in tears last night after flubbing a song she was performing during the Kennedy Center Honors. Jess was on stage to sing “Nine to Five” as part of the tribute to Dolly Parton, one of the evening’s five honorees. Jess ended her performance abrupty with the words “so nervous” and quickly exited the stage. The stunned audience remained silent, giving her no applause. Jess appeared to be still crying when she and other singers in the tribute returned to the stage. If you want to see poor Jess lose it, CBS will broadcast the show Dec. 26 at 9 p.m.
Betcha Dolly wiped away those tears afterward: “What in the Sam Hill are you cryin’ about? Hardly worth your tears. Wrinkles… natural hair… now that’s different story. Let me see you smile, young lady! It increases your face value.” No one gives a pep talk like ol’ Dolly.
