Kelly Ripa vs. Clay Aiken

Oh, no, he di-in’t!

This morning, Kelly Ripa told Regis that on Friday’s show, co-host Clay Aiken put his “cold clammy hands” over her mouth and face to shut her up during an interview. She said he was totally “rude and hostile; if I were a man, he never would have behaved so badly.” Kelly added that his fans may not like what she had to say, but she had many phone calls from people who were shocked by his lack of southern manners.

Check it out: At about 2 minutes and 40 seconds into the video, you can see that Kelly is so ready to open a can on Clay’s rude a*s. And she could, too, you know. Little Clay wouldn’t stand a chance against a scrapper like Kelly.

The rude one was Kelly. She wouldn’t shut up on Friday!! I would have liked to gag her myself. And her rudeness obviously continues with the comments she made today.

It’s called the Regis & Kelly show, not the Clay & Kelly show. Besides, there are other ways to interject without getting physical. Clay was rude and out of line.

  4. toni

whatever. she’s totally unprofessional. I don’t see what he did that was bad. Let someone else talk, Ripa. To rip on him the way she did for THAT? Unprofessional. Don’t have him back if you don’t like him, but he did nothing to deserve what she did.

Clay came off like such a jerk on Friday’s show. I thought Kelly handled herself with a great deal of class. There is nothing more humiliating than having someone put their hand over your mouth, for him to do that to the regular host of the show reveals what a narcissist he is. Kelly is a talk show host, it is her job to talk! He had no right to do what he did. Shame on him!

  6. SHe can only do because Clay is lower than her, but if Regis was the one who had his hands over her mouth, I bet she wouldn’t have complained.

How rude of Clay. He was a guest host on HER show. Like she said, he wouldn’t have done that to Regis. What a sexist, immature baby. No one wants to hear him talk anyway.

Friday’s show let us see another side of Clay and it was not flattering. He did not behave like a guest. He’s got attitude and not a good one either.

While I was watching Friday’s show, I was thinking to myself that Kelly was being VERY rude to Clay by not letting him ask Emmitt and Cheryl a single question! She just kept rambling on and on, with no regard to Clay being the co-host! Being a co-host means that you BOTH get to ask questions during the interview!!! I wanted to put my hand over her mouth, so that she would shut her mouth for one minute, so that Clay could actually ask one question! He wasn’t being rude or hostile toward her! Actually, he was doing what a lot of us viewers wanted to do from home! Even Regis has to shut her up once and awhile! It is Kelly that needs to work on her manners. She was very unprofessional in her behavior during the interview and in her comments about Clay on Monday’s show . I’m sure that I won’t be watching “Regis & Kelly” ever again. She made up my mind for me last Friday.

Kelly was the one that rude on Friday. She wouldn’t let Clay get a word in edgewise! I guess Clay was wrong for taking his “co-hosting” duties seriously. They were both throwing some jabs at each other. Clay probably shouldn’t have put his hand over her mouth but he only did what a lot of us wanted to do. I think Ms. Ripa needs to rewatch that tape to see how bad of a job she did before she goes spouting off about it.

Bottom line, if she doesn’t want him back on the show, don’t ask him!

  11. Stacey

Clay was very rude and Kelly had every right to say something. The only ones that don’t see that are Clay’s rabid fans.

So just because kelly wouldn’t let him ask a question, he should have shut her up with a hand over her month? How would he have liked it if it was the other way? He was an ass, I can’t believe anyone can defend him when HE IS the guest host.

Was Kelly stopping his questions with a hand over her mouth? Maybe he should wait till she’s done and go host the creepy Insider show.

  13. bvd

Get real here! Kelly has put her hands over Regis’ mouth before and he’s done it to her too! Doesn’t anyone here ever watch the show?

Plus, Clay apologized to her right on the show. In public! INSTANTLY! And now she comes back later and refuses to accept it. What classless tramp. I’m guessing she doesn’t go to church much.

She’s just pissed because Clay was so funny and stole the show out from under her. They probably got a ton of email about how great he was and she started feeling salty.

  14. someone

Kelly is a Diva, she always wants to be the center of attention, she wouldn’t let Clay talk at all, he tried many times to speak, and she just talked over him..I could understand the fuss if he had slapped her, like I wanted to do..but he just tried to shut her up! If she wanted to run the show, they shouldn’t have had a co-host. And he did apologize.

  15. Jo Jo

Kelly is always the rude one. She NEVER SHUTS UP, talks in run-on sentences, and totally monopolizes the conversation–very boorish behavior, which she gets away with because she’s a cute, funny blonde. I’ll bet Regis has wanted to do what Clay did hundreds of times.

  16. Hannah

His conduct was embarrassing. Made me cringe. It’s her show, not his!!! He’s jsut on there to promote his stupid Christmas album. They were doing him a favor.

  17. David

Clay was the guest CO HOST, he should have been allowed to participate. Kelly is a mannerless bitch, no two ways about it. Her vomit on air Monday morning was as distasteful as her obvious mentoring by Howard Stern. Trashy.

  18. kathleen

i think these two people both suffer from the LOVE/HATE thing - - people either really LOVE them or really HATE them…not much of an in between. pairing the two together was a bad idea to begin with!

  19. shawn

Clay did try very hard to participate in the show, but Kelly refused to give him a chance. Kelly has a bad habit of interupting Regis and others who have co-hosted along side of her. However, Clay shouldn’t have placed his hand over her mouth. But I really like the fact that Clay tried to take a stand against someone who disrespected him.

  20. CVG

Clay was a guest host. No matter how much you want to stuff a sock in someone’s mouth, you don’t do it. Kelly was the pro, Clay the amateur talk show host.
If Clay and Kelly were singing a duet, would it have been appropriate for Kelly to put her hand over Clay’s mouth because he was singing more than her? No.
Anyway, it’s a dead horse now, let’s stop beating it.

  21. Liz

I think Kelly and Clay are both “full of themselves.” Clay should not have put his hand over Kelly’s mouth, but I bet she would not have minded if a good-looking A-lister had done the same thing.

  22. Just Curious

Does anyone have the WHOLE show, so I can make an assessment for myself? And if you have the whole Nov. 17th show, can ya post it so we can see?

I just view the clip on the internet and I did not see a thing wrong that Clay did. He was just trying to get her to “shut up” for a minute so he could ask a question. She keep rambling on, on, so what is she so upset about. I don’t get it. This could have been just a part of the show like some others that I have seen with her and Regis. What’s the point here.

I agree Kelly was the rude one. Kelly has blown this wayout of proposition, and has made herself look bad. Clay was the to co-host he was not just there to sit well she conducted the interview. And I have seen her put her hand over Regis’ mouth. And to top it off that comment about not knowing where his hand was, that has bad. I agree with Rosie O’Donnell because she never made comments like that when Regis has covered her mouth and in fact, she has done mouth covering to Regis as well. I think now Kelly owes Clay a public apology.

I saw the WHOLE show from the beginning…and what do I think?

    Clay is a TOTAL LOSER.

The beginning segment or monologue or whatever you want to call it, Clay started off very full-of-himself. “This show is all about me”,”let’s get back to me!” WHOCARES.

He would either talk about himself or poke fun at Kelly. He obviously had nothing else to talk about.

Now back to the hand-on-mouth incident, if I were Kelly, I woulda ripped that lil gay-guy up on live T.V. Yeah, I said it!

And Rosie can stick Clay’s Hand up her arse!

    lol

  29. Babs

I have seen Regis put his hand over Kelly’s mouth trying to get a word in edgewise, and she does not react so vehemently; she wouldn’t dare if she wants to keep her job. Evidently it is all right for Kelly to push pictures of cats in Clay’s face in a teasing manner, but when he teases back, she can’t take it. Her rude comment concerning his hand might not have been interpreted as anti-gay if she had not already made fun of Clay’s sexuality when she impersonated him at Halloween. (While dressed as Clay, she kissed Regis who was dressed as Bo Bice.) She is on live TV; she should have shrugged it off, and discussed it with Clay later if it was such a big issue to her.

  30. a.castro

Kelly was the rude one, had it been Madonna or Tom Cruise who put their hand over her mouth, she wouldn’t have said a thing, because they are A-list stars. Clay on the other hand isn’t. Kelly i use to like you, now i don’t. You’re not as high and mighty as you might think. Just ask Star Jones.

  31. carmel

Let face it the bottom line is that it is Regis and Kelly’s show. If Clay wishes to make a name for himself he should have injected his questions like Kelly did in her second season on the show and continues to do. There was no need for him to put his hand over her mouth. However Kelly should have been more truthful. I don’t think she was worried about cold and flu only. Some men don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom and I would certainly not want these men hands over my mouth.

  32. sk

The people who defended Clay either need to watch the whole show, where Clay was antagonistic from the beginning or stop letting their partiality for Clay come in between them and proper judgment. He was improper and, yes, disrespectful. Some say that Regis has done the same thing. But bottom line - Kelly knows Regis. You do a lot of things with friends or coworkers that you would never do with strangers or people you have a passing acquaintance with. To the whole “he was a host, too” argument - no, it’s her show. He’s not there because it’s his job; he’s there as a promotional stunt. To the “he was just doing what I wanted to do” group - do you really think that’s a valid argument? There are lots of rude things that people would like to do when annoyed. But two little things called restraint and common sense stop us. Now, can we please stop giving publicity to either!?

What was Clay waiting for? Was he waiting for everyone to stop the show, turn to him, and say, Clay would you like to ask a question now?? It was a fast-paced conversation/interview, if he wanted so badly to get in a question he should have jumped in there and asked his questions. Kelly can hold her own in an interview, watch her, she reads body language clearly and responds quickly. Instead, Clay just sat there like a lump, sometimes playing with his hair. For him to grandstand about wanting to ask a question was completely out of the blue. If you watch the video you can see the lump of Clay sitting there, looking back and forth, then all of a sudden–OUT OF THE FUC**NG BLUE–he turns on Kelly as if he had already made it apparent he wanted to ask a question! On the contrary, that was the only time he even appeared to have ever wanted to be involved in the conversation/interview–when he grandstanded. I am thinking, wtf?? Where the hell did that come from all of a sudden?? Anyways, after he stopped flapping his arms he appeared to be more focused on the fact that he still wasn’t being formally introduced by Kelly into a conversation that he was supposed to have been participating in all along–go figure. You see, that was actually him waiting for just the right moment to swing his arm across into Kelly’s personal space and actually PHYSICALLY stop her from talking. You can see that she has never been treated this way before by the way her head jerks backward slightly. She was shocked so badly. I couldn’t believe it. It was rude and physically authoritative. Who does he think he is? All I know is she handled it so well. I probably would have let him have it verbally and either walked off or took a minute to cool off. She kept it together and dealt with it rationally.

Clay, you need to get a clue. If you want to ask a question–OPEN YOUR STUPID MOUTH AND ASK IT.

I watched the entire show and although Clay showed he needed to work on his attitude and “hostmanship”, Kelly Ripa was, is and will continue to be a royal pain in the ___. I don’t watch the show very much, mainly because SHE is always interrupting everybody and anybody, to insert her inane ramblings. The show would be much better without her, but if Regis wants a day off, let her have the show to herself. It won’t happen more than once.

  35. Rachel

I was shocked myself when I watched the show. Kelly went on and on asking questions without giving Clay a chance to talk. What a bitch. Knowing that Clay is new, she could have given him a chance to talk. She is a bitch

Kelly is a hypocrite. Here you will find she not only did it ONCE, but TWICE, right during flu season.

Can someone go back in the clips and just see how many times Kelly felt comfortable enough to put her hands on a guest!? Or Even Regis!?! I think still picking on him for his obvious honest mistake is what is truly wrong. We are all so perfect I guess.

What a joke. Who really cares? Obviously Kelly has nothing else to gripe about. Get over it. There are far worse things he could have done. I don’t think he meant it the way she took it.

  40. Linda

Kelly had the stage to herself and wasn’t about to share. A gracious host includes everyone in the conversation. While Clay could’ve handled it better, Kelly clearly was butting him out of the scene, wanted the camera on her, her and no one but her. She needs a good kick in the pants.

  41. Anonymous

I hate when someone touch my face.So I’m with you Kelly!

  42. John Batiller

I felt that Kelly Ripa wouldn’t shut up and just let Clay ask a question on the interview. What a bitch. The fact that she makes such a big fuss about it too makes me hate her more.

  43. Bethany

Clay has appeared on many other shows in the past, and he’s proven to be a snarky, quick-witted guest. Kelly is used to the spot light and she loves to hog all the dialog. It was obvious that she was horridly unprepared for Clay and had pent-up resentment towards him for besting her in their opening banter. The hand-on-mouth gesture was OBVIOUSLY meant in jest and her reaction was both uncalled for and unclassy. The best hosts roll with the punches, not dish them out. Perhaps he was out of line, yes, but he did appologize. It was too bad that she couldn’t do the professional thing and get over it. If you watch the tape, Kelly had her initial shock, then she brushed it off. No problem. But she showed her true colors the next day when she trashed him on National Television. Shame on you Kelly

  44. TESSA

i hate them both..i hope they kill each other.

  45. kid

let’s say that clay was wrong in touching kelly. but, kelly’s act was worse. she took a social faux pas and interjected a nasty dirty sex comment - throwing a direct jab at him - that was totally out of line. i thought she was better than that. i’m disappointed in her.

  46. Sarah

Clay definitely made a spur of the moment error in judgement by covering her mouth with his hand. What he did though doesn’t even compare to how Kelly literally “slandered” him the next day on TV. She should have handled that privately. It was incredibly arrogant and cold-hearted on her part. I was absolutely shocked at the way she handled it. How horribly rude and insensitive of her. She showed herself to be without grace, forgiveness, or even compassion.

I enjoyed reading Lesa’s Rant…and I think everyone here should read it again if you’ve missed it…
